Having trouble with your Lexus GS300 ECU?

We commonly see these Lexus GS300 ECUs for shifting issues.

The 1992 - '96 Lexus GS300 ECUs are prone to
failure due to the original factory electrolytic capacitors.
When they get to a certain age the capacitors start slowly
leaking an oily fluid that eventually will corrode the copper lines
of the printed circuit board, as well as degrade or ruin the metals of any components that were saturated in the acidic chemical.

After an ECU has been properly overhauled,
the capacitor problem will not be back again.
Only the old original factory capacitors,
be it from Nichicon, Rubicon or otherwise,
are what is causing all the trouble.
These capacitors were all made in the 1980s, and
later wound up in various Japanese brand electronics
and automotive control units in the early to mid 90s.
This is not a problem with contemporary components.

Later models after around 1998 and up, with have other issues, not leaking capacitors. We are able to restore full function in these as well, and the repaired unit will not need reprogramming at re-installation.

The Lexus GS300 is a very nice luxury vehicle,
and we see the GS300 ECU fairly often.
The 2004 - '06 range GS300 is the most popular,
usually coming in for repair of hard shifting issues,
but other problems as well.
We replace the parts that are responsible for these
symptoms, which will restore full function of the ECU.
We also go a little further, and replace some of the
components that have not failed yet,
as a preventive measure to ensure a long life.
