ECS failure

Just like the ECM and TCM for the 3000GT and Stealth,
the ECS modules are prone to failure, usually due to the electrlytic capacitors used by the manufacturer.

The effects of this failure are going to go undetected most of the time. Usually the driver is annoyed by the ECS light and thats about it. However, there are owners who want this apect of the car to perform as intended, and we are now offering a fairly economical solution to replacement.

Some Stealths and 3000GTs are equiped with an ECS module.

When you upgrade or change your struts to non-factory struts, you lose the ECS control. 
The Tour/Sport indicator light will flash indefinitely.
You can stop the light from flashing, by disconnecting the ECS module.

The ECS control module is located in the trunk, behind the interior plastic body panels on the passenger side. Just below the trunk interior light is an access panel. You have to remove the trunk trays to access this panel.

Very important note to buyer: Controling the struts electronically is only posible when using the factory ECS struts manufactured by KYB.

When operating properly the ECS module performs as listed below

Sport mode -  suspension is set at Hard.
The damping force can be checked by simply bouncing the mounting points
in both modes and checking that the damping force is harder in the Sport state.

Tour mode - activates the following 

Anti-Roll:   If the steering wheel is rotated 90 degrees within 0.3 seconds then the suspension is set at Medium. If this change occurs within 0.2 seconds then it is set at Hard.

Anti-Dive:   When the speed of the car drops quickly during braking the suspension sets itself to Hard.

Anti-Squat:   The suspension will harden at low speeds when accelerating quickly. During hard acceleration at 30km/h the suspension is set at Hard, at 60km/h it is set at Medium, at 90km/h it is set at Soft. At all speeds suspension will change to Medium after a second of acceleration.

High Speed Sensitive:   When accelerating the suspension will change from Soft to Medium at 130km/h and will revert back to soft when the speed drops below 120km/h.

Pitch and Bounce:   If the vehicle's body bounces up and down by approx 5cm within a second then the suspension is set at Hard until this motion ceases.
